Giggleswick aims to provide a supportive and stimulating independent education that prepares confident young people for the opportunities of the adult world. Our education is values driven and we place particular emphasis on participation, respect and ambition.
Values and Ethos
Our three core values are participation, respect and ambition. We accept each person for who they are and, through a broad curriculum, seek to nurture the talent in everyone. A grounded and down to earth school where individuals are respected but participation is expected. We value highly academic progress and encourage a critical awareness of learning. This includes a recognition of the importance of learning beyond the classroom where outcomes, though less quantifiable, are just as important for wellbeing in life, and where our Learner Profile helps to ensure activity is purposeful and fulfilling. All this is rooted in a boarding community which seeks to listen to and support each member. As a Christian foundation we accept pupils from all faiths and none, but we expect an open mindedness towards belief.
The Giggleswick Learner
To successfully achieve our aims we have defined our own Learner Profile. This identifies the key characteristics that we believe will help individuals lead happy and fulfilling lives.
Our aim is to nurture young enquiring minds, firing their imaginations both in the classroom and outside.
